Four attorneys from Engelman Berger have been selected for inclusion in the 2026 Az Business Leaders publication, an annual honor recognizing Arizona’s most influential and accomplished legal and business professionals.

Steven N. Berger was recognized for his distinguished work in Bankruptcy, while Scott B. Cohen earned honors for his leadership and expertise in Banking Law. Both have been included in the publication for several years, while 2026 brings the added recognition of Shelley A. Detwiller DiGiacomo, selected for her exceptional contributions to Securities and Corporate Law, and Michael P. Rolland, recognized as a “Leader to Watch.”

This recognition underscores Engelman Berger’s depth of talent and longstanding commitment to delivering strategic, high-level counsel across a broad range of complex legal disciplines.

Berger, a co-founder of the firm, has built a distinguished career representing lenders, creditors, investors, and business owners in bankruptcy, reorganization, and commercial disputes. He is also a skilled mediator, leveraging his deep knowledge of Arizona’s legal landscape to help parties achieve equitable resolutions.

Cohen is a trusted advisor to banks, lenders, landlords, and other creditors in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and commercial litigation matters. He assists clients throughout the life cycle of a loan, from due diligence to enforcement, and is a Certified Specialist in Business Bankruptcy Law. A former chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Arizona, Cohen is recognized as a leader in Arizona’s bankruptcy law community.

Detwiller DiGiacomo works with companies of all types and sizes, providing informed guidance on a variety of business matters including commercial contracts, loan agreements, licensing agreements, supply and distribution agreements, and the acquisition and sale of assets and securities.

Rolland is a commercial litigator whose work focuses on real estate, breach of contract, ownership disputes, loan workouts, creditor’s rights, Chapter 11 bankruptcies, receiverships, and appeals. He also maintains a specialized practice in water law, representing several metro-area cities in the Gila River General Stream Adjudication.

Engelman Berger is comprised of experienced lawyers who are well recognized for their expertise and commitment to resolve commercial disputes and assist clients in preventing legal problems through proper planning. The firms’ clients include national and local lenders, borrowers, lessors, tenants, family-owned businesses, developers, franchise owners, municipalities, and investors.
