O’Keefe, Colleagues Bring Ethics to Life at AZ Bar Event

June 26, 2025

10 minute read

Andrew R. O’Keefe of Engelman Berger joined legal professionals from across the state at the annual State Bar of Arizona Convention, held June 23–25 at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix. O’Keefe was a featured panelist in a standout ethics presentation entitled “The Debating Game: Where Ethical Lawyers Find Their Match.”

Inspired by the classic 1970s TV show The Dating Game, the panel took a creative and engaging approach to legal ethics. Dressed in costumes and stepping into character, the presenters brought bankruptcy law to life through a lively game show format that combined humor with serious ethical insight. Topics covered included potential conflicts of interest, asset disclosure, false statements, informed consent, and more.

In addition to O’Keefe, the panel included Kelle Andrews, Career Law Clerk for Chief Judge Eddward P. Ballinger, Jr., United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Arizona; Ryan Deutsch, Associate, Allen, Jones & Giles, PLC; Amanda Carrizales, Associate, Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP; Rachel Flinn, Staff Attorney, Office of Russell Brown, Chapter 13 Trustee; and the Honorable Hilary L. Barnes, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada.

O’Keefe is an associate attorney with Engelman Berger’s Commercial Litigation and Bankruptcy Practices. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Daniel P. Collins, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.
