Scott B. Cohen has been selected as the recipient of the Honorable Daniel P. Collins Mentorship Award from the Arizona Bankruptcy American Inn of Court, (ABAIC), an honor presented to an attorney who demonstrates exceptional guidance of younger lawyers, professionalism, and dedication to advancing legal education within the profession.

The ABAIC, established in 2011, is part of a national organization dedicated to promoting professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal excellence among judges, lawyers, and legal professionals. This recognition highlights a career that has extended beyond legal practice into mentorship, advocacy, and service to the broader community.

Cohen will be recognized for this award at the 2026 Arizona State Bar Convention, where he is also being presented with the 2026 Top Pro Bono Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, an honor reserved for just 50 attorneys statewide.

“Scott’s impact reaches far beyond the courtroom,” said Patrick A. Clisham of Engelman Berger, the firm’s managing partner. “He has performed extensive pro bono service, he has spent years coaching mock trial students, and he generously offers his time guiding, advising and collaborating with emerging legal professionals.”

An experienced banking, commercial bankruptcy attorney, and trusted problem solver, Cohen brings more than 30 years of experience advising clients on complex financial matters. His practice includes custom loan documentation, business bankruptcy law, commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, restructurings, workouts, receiverships, and distressed transactional matters. He represents a diverse client base, including banks, lenders, creditors, borrowers, landlords, guarantors, committees, and debtors. He is licensed in Arizona, California, and New Mexico and regularly solves clients’ problems in those jurisdictions.

Widely respected within Arizona’s legal community, Cohen also dedicates a considerable amount of time to community and charitable causes.

Engelman Berger is comprised of experienced lawyers who are well recognized for their expertise and commitment to resolve commercial disputes and assist clients in preventing legal problems through proper planning. The firm’s clients include national and local lenders, borrowers, lessors, tenants, family-owned businesses, developers, franchise owners, municipalities, and investors. Industries served include banking and lending, credit unions, real estate, construction, restaurant, hospitality, medical, retail, wholesale, and agricultural, among others. The firm provides creative and focused representation in all federal and state courts, bankruptcy court, arbitrations, mediations and settlement negotiations.
